Spatial chaos - disharmony

This artist-curated show featured a collection of works on paper by 7 artists. It’s a “collection of diagrams, journal entries, made-up languages, codes and sketches, corporeal works talk amongst themselves to formulate a collective diary or sketchbook”

Works on paper humble the artist. Canvas is regarded as the “standard” surface within the institution, it has a holiness about it. Most exhibited work on paper is pristine and conventional in its installation and space, usually with regards to preservation, in particular framing. This show doesn’t follow that convention.

This show encapsulates spacial chaos and disharmony. The show was installed so carefully, carelessly. It felt like a easter egg hunt the way the work was displayed, on the ceiling, very unconventional places, such us on top of the radiator. It made us work for it, teasing us. usually at art shows the work so shamelessly exhibits itself to us, like a slut. To be tantalized by this show was a breath of fresh air. The work itself seemed to be harmonious in nature, each of the artists showed not too polished work, sketches and notes often unseen by the viewer.
